Our Story
We met almost ten years ago and have been inseparable ever since. Emily fell in love with Brian for his kind heart and sense of humor and Brian loved Emily because of her warmth and adventurous spirit. We were married in 2007 and we spent the first several years of our marriage moving around the country for Brian's job. We enjoyed being able to explore new parts of the country and experiencing new places together. In 2010, we were thrilled to settle in Michigan and make it our permanent home.
We have two boys, Ian who is 5 and Alex who is 2. Being parents has been the greatest joy of our lives and we are so excited to welcome another baby into our family through adoption.
Brian works in the aviation industry and he loves his job. When Brian was 16 years old, he got his pilot's license and worked for several years as an instructor pilot. He stopped flying in 2006 and started his current career with the government so that he could spend more time at home with the family.
During his free time, Brian enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, biking and fishing. He also loves grilling and he can often be found grilling in the backyard while the kids run through the sprinkler.
Brian is a sweet, playful and patient father. The kids love going with him on outside adventures and he is especially good at giving horsey rides around the living room. Brian's job allows him to be home a lot of the time and he has a very close connection with his kids.

About Emily
Emily is a stay-at-home mom and she feels grateful to be able to be home with the kids as they grow up. Her parenting style can best be described as calm, fun and loving. She also owns her own business where she works a few hours a week teaching yoga. Emily is passionate about helping people feel healthy, both physically and mentally.
Emily has always loved helping people and before the boys were born, she worked as a counselor for women and children in a domestic violence shelter. She also spent a lot of time traveling and working abroad as an English Teacher in Taiwan and a Mental Health Counselor in Scotland.
Emily studied theater, music and dance in college. As a hobby, Emily still enjoys singing and has sung with various choirs over the years. Recently, her favorite performances have been during our nightly living room dance parties with the kids before bed.
About Ian
Ian has always had a very gentle and sweet nature. He likes reading, writing and drawing and he is also learning to play the piano. Ian is very kind and considerate and he makes a great big brother. His favorite activity is playing at Chuck E Cheese, his favorite color is green and his favorite movie is “Frozen.”
About Alex
Alex is very outgoing and energetic. He waves and says “hi” to everyone we pass at the grocery store and he will sing Jingle Bells to anyone who will stop to listen. Alex can find fun in any situation and his laugh can be heard from across the house. His favorite game is catch and he favorite activity is eating...a lot!
